A Brief History of Culburra Coaches & the McIntyre Family
Following a lifelong interest in 'all things mechanical', Bill McIntyre and wife Pat founded Culburra Coaches in 1976, with three buses servicing local school bus runs in the Shoalhaven region. Deciding to expand their business base to include the coach tour market, Bill purchased his first coach at auction in 1985 and entered the hectic world of group tours and luxury coach travel.
Pat and Bill's dedication to customer service ensured early success with their coach tour operation. With capable assistance from son Brett, who had joined the company as an apprentice motor mechanic in 1981, the coach tour business expanded rapidly throughout the 90s.
After completing his mechanical apprenticeship, Brett acquired formal qualifications in welding and diesel engineering with a view to providing a fully qualified in-house 
maintenance & repair facility for the company's vehicles. Gaining tertiary qualifications in Transport Management from Sydney University, Brett became a director of Culburra Coaches. During the late 90s, several more state-of-the-art luxury coaches were added to their stable of quality group tour coaches to service the rapidly expanding touring market.
In 2008 the luxury fleet was upgraded with the purchase of two volvo five star luxury modern coaches built to the specifications provided by Brett. Culburra Coaches is very much a business based on strong family values and still maintains a very firm commitment to customer satisfaction. The sale in 2008 of the school and town runs will enable Brett and Pat to focus on Charter business resulting in an even greater service to our customers.
